Annual Report 2008: Dr. Balliram Chadee; Founder and President.
The Hanuman Mission makes History in Ajax.
Dec 11th 2008 marked SIX YEARS as a Registered Charitable Organization for The Hanuman Mission and over seven years for the formation of a personal Hanuman Vision by the Founder and President, Balliram Chadee. The Hanuman Temple and Center for Religious & Cultural Research is the first Legal Entity containing the word “Hanuman” in its Official Name, which was approved as a Registered Charitable Organization in Canada, dedicated to the Life and Glorification of Hanumanji. This Mission was established single handedly in December 2002. Ajax South Asian Cultural Center was established in 2003 as a Cultural and Heritage Organization to address the under serviced needs of the South Asian and Indo Caribbean communities in the Durham Region. In 2005, with a desire to assist members from the Indian Caribbean Region with some of their concerns, Bally established the First Indo Caribbean Family Support Services Organization in Canada, a legal entity with a mandate to address the social services, settlement matters and integration concerns of immigrants trying to assimilate into Canadian society and mainstream Canadian lifestyle in Durham Region and GTA.
The Hanuman Mission was legally incorporated in 2002 with one single charitable object like most other Hindu Religious Organizations. Because it was established under the principles, guidance and virtues of Hanuman, known for his selfless service, our mandate was expanded to being a full fledge Service Oriented Organization and Mission. In 2005, under the successful leadership of Mr. Chadee, the Hanuman Mission was approved for five (5) additional Charitable Objects which allowed for the successful deliveries of services it continues to deliver, irregardless of faith, beliefs or religion. The Charitable Objects of The Hanuman Mission now include: Hinduism, Social Support Services, Language Training, Cultural Teaching and Education, Integration of Newcomers and Settlers to Canada, Drug Rehabilitation, Substance Abuse Support, Counselling, Family Mediation, Employment and Training Assistance, Support to Victims of Disasters and Heritage Programs.
Balliram Chadee is a Registered Minister of Religion authorized to solemnize marriages and Certified in Multifaith competency in Ontario. He is a Commissioner of Oaths and Affidavits, Registered as a Family Mediator, Counselor, and Certified Teacher of English as a Second Language in Canada. He has successfully completed three levels of training for Hospital Visitation where he is a Hindu visitor and Community Clergy. Under his leadership there are now Ramayans in the Chapels of 10 Hospitals in GTA and Durham Region. The Hanuman Mission is responsible for introducing Hinduism to the Town of Ajax along with many Religious Ceremonies and Events during its 50th Anniversary. Through friends and supporters, 5000 copies of the Hanuman Chaleesas were donated FREE in Canada, USA, Guyana, Trinidad, Mauritius, and the Caribbean. He is a member of the Community Liaison Committee of Durham Regional Police Services, member of the Cultural Arts Advisory of the Town of Ajax, member of the Board of Directors of United Way of Ajax/Pickering/Uxbridge and the Vice Chair of the Religious and Spiritual Care committee of Ajax/Pickering Hospital, all for volunteering to help the community.
Significant contributions were made for the awareness and education of “Hanumanism” in Canada, a coined phrase by Bally, also being the first in Canada to play the entire Hanuman Chaleesa on Television, with the support of Masala TV, seen coast to coast in Canada, USA and Caribbean. We were the first Hindu group to execute a “Live Tribute to Hanuman” in April 2004, in Toronto hosting approx. 1200 members for FREE, while releasing two Hanuman Audio CDs. The Hanuman Mission is led by a Board of Directors and Management Committee including Bhimdath Dookie, Jairam Binda, Mala Ramdeo, Buddy Rampersad, Bisnath Chadee, Sharla Emanuel, Deo Koonjbeharry and Dr. Balliram Chadee. Pt Shrikanta Acharya and Shree Prakash Gossai have assisted and continue to support the future success of the Mission. We are registered under the Private Career College and so far have Certified 4 musical teachers in Table and Harmonium. We created History in 2005 for the Town’s 50th Anniversary when we received the Ontario Service Award for Volunteerism, as the ONLY Hindu Organization in Ajax and Durham Region so far. We are in the final stages of purchasing 2 acres of land to construct a Hanuman Temple and Heritage House in Ajax. We celebrated Hanuman Jayanti on Thursday April 13th from 9:00am to 10:00pm.
